My New Hair!

In my last post I talked about life and changes
and what better way to make a change then with a new haircut?!

I haven't cut my hair since before college and it was getting ridiculously long.

like, really long.

although I will miss being able to curl my hair like this ^^^
I was ready for a change.
I've always wanted to donate my hair, but it's never been long enough.
Well--it was long enough this time around!

Also, three women that I really look up too have recently been diagnosed with cancer.
A side effect of the chemotherapy is the loss of hair.
I found an organization called Pantene Beautiful Lengths, they gather hair and make wigs for women that have lost their hair due to cancer.
So I decided to donate my hair to them.
I get to chop my hair off, and I get to give it to an awesome organization!
Win, Win, right? :)

So earlier today I went to Stylin' hair salon and Haley McIntosh chopped it allll off.
13 inches off to be exact.

And I absolutely love it!!
I wasn't sure how I'd like it-and right before she started cutting I got extremely nervous.
But, it was too late. by the time I processed that fact half of my hair was gone. :P

Here's the finished product!

I think it makes me look older...
What do you think? :)

It's definitely a big change, and it is taking a while to get used too. But I really like it, and I'm sure I'll like it even more when it doesn't take 10 minutes to blow dry my hair. ;)

Life, Lately.

Well, I have completely skipped over the month of March apparently, according to my blog. I can sum it up for you in two words though,
-HOME WORK-
hmmm, so maybe that's one word but we'll pretend its two for emphasis.

But I have since escaped that seemingly endless pit and surfaced (mostly) unscathed.
I even came away with fairly good grades!

History & Philosophy of Education: A
Art & Propaganda of the 20th Century: A
Book of Mormon: A-
Math for the Real World: B+
University Choir: A
Light and Sound: B
Issues in Special Education: A-

Hopefully those are good enough to keep my scholarship for next year!
we shall see..
Anyways,
the semester was kind of a hard one for me.
We had some drama issues in the apartment, and I became caught in the middle. I was able to find a job, which I am grateful for, but it wasn't an easy job for me. I was in over my head with homework, tests, projects etc... and I dealt with loneliness and some other issues in my life.
But lest you think I am a negative person-there were the good times as well.
I had amazing roommates and I felt like I got to know them a lot more, and to appreciate the amazing people that they are.
We had some crazy times.... ;)
Job(no matter how hard it was)=MONEY. :)
Through the trials I felt like I was able to learn a lot more about myself, and I think I grew up and became more mature. (even if it was only a bit. ;) )
We had really good home teachers and FHE brothers who were tons of fun, and always knew how to make us laugh.
Although my classes were hard I learned a lot, and gained new perspectives.
BYU-Idaho is a wonderful place to be :)
And no matter what, if I was sad, angry, happy, or excited, I could always count on a call from Spencer to brighten up my day. :) He's the best!

Life, with all its ups and downs, is good. And I am grateful for all the experiences I've had.
But now I am home. At least for the next 5 months I am home. :)
I feel like I am a different person then I was at this time last year-and that's a good thing. And I think it would be almost a crime to live my life in the same way I have been living it before. It's time for a change. I want to be able to look back and say that my experiences have made me a better person.

So, here's to life, and change, and new things.

I can't wait to see what the next few months bring. :)

Heavenly.

I think I'm in love.
For reals.
With choir, with music, and most especially, with this song.

Listen, Listen, Listen.

At the front of our music is a note from the Composer of the piece, Jeffrey Ames.

"In Remembrance is in response to the tragic accident that took the lives of Dr. William(Bill) Potts, Becca his daughter, and Anna his youngest daughter on July 4, 2002. Bill was a choral parent and Becca was one of my students during my tenure as Director of Choral Activities at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Florida. This piece is written in their memory and dedicated to the surviving members of the immediate family: Jayne, wife and mother; Elisabeth, eldest daughter and sister; Jason, Elisabeth's husband, and Will, only son and brother.
This text also suits the events that have recently occurred in our world. I believe In Remembrance carries a message of healing, peace, and hope applicable to many situations and personal circumstances. This piece reflects my sadness, for I know I will never see the smiling faces of Bill, Becca, and Anna Potts again on this earth. However, this piece also reflects my joy, for I know they are at rest and I will one day see them again in Heaven."
Blessed are the dead, which die in the Lord
That they may rest from their labor.

Mermaid Curls.

This morning I woke up and thought, I want to curl my hair today!
so I did.
And then I was sitting in math and the girl who sits next to me turned to me and said,
"Oh my gosh, you're hair is so beautiful. You have mermaid hair!"

Mermaid hair?
I've always wanted to look like a mermaid!
Ok, not really. But Ariel's hair is SO pretty, so I took that as a compliment.
And have now decided to call this hairstyle my "mermaid curls"
Thank you kind math girl, I'm flattered. :)

Birthday Goodness.

"Rapunzel: So mother, earlier I was saying tomorrow is a really big day and you didn't really respond so I'm just going to tell you: IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!!!
Mother Gothel: No, no, no, can't be. I distinctly remember, your birthday was last year.
Rapunzel: That's the funny thing about birthdays, they're kind of an annual thing.."

(So I realize I quoted Tangled in my last post...but the quotes are just so dang applicable!)

Anyways, If you hadn't guessed from the title or the above quote it's that time of year again, yup. IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!!

It doesn't seem like its been that long since I was celebratin' my 18th with my fellow January Babies, but...that's the funny thing about birthdays, they're kind of an annual thing.
(See what I did there?? sorry...I couldn't help myself)
Anyways, I am officially 19, and that is a seriously weird thought. I feel so old!
But my goal is to make year 19 as great as year 18
so...
Happy Birthday to me! :)

an update of some sorts..

I have been taking what you could call a "blogging fast" for the past couple of weeks.
Ok, false.
That's a lie, I have just been very busy, or lazy... whichever one makes for a better excuse.
busy?
yeah, that's it. I've been busy. :)

Nothing too exciting has happened lately, just the regular ol' college stuff. Homework, quizzes, tests, projects, group presentations, etc...etc...
You know that scene in Tangled when Flynn says, "All the things we've seen and its only 8 0'clock in the morning!" well, I feel like that explains these last few weeks perfectly. "All the things I've done and it's only 3 weeks into the semester!" Anyways...

Oh! I'm pretty sure I haven't mentioned that I am roommates with my cousin Jamie. so...guess what?! Jamie and I are roommates! We've had some crazy times and some have been documented.
(These were taken at like...2 in the morning :P)
These are only 5 of the about 300 pictures we've taken, and all of them are pretty ridiculous. But that's ok, we've had tons of fun. :)

well I have to read 100 some odd pages in 1984 by Friday so..maybe I should get off the computer. Ok, bye. :)
